Traffic Jam - Enjoyable Congestion
Every other year, in Lapalisse, you can willingly find yourself stuck in traffic. On the nostalgic road, the Route Nationale 7 (RN 7), passing through Lapalisse, there used to be long queues of vacationers from the Paris region heading to the sunny south during the holiday season. This traffic jam is now recreated, in even-numbered years (2024, 2026, etc.), with old- and young-timers.
You encounter a variety of vehicles, including buses, cars, trucks, and even mopeds. Often, the drivers and occupants are dressed in matching attire. Markets, food and drinks, and overall conviviality abound, attracting participants from all over Europe for this three-day event.
Culinary Delights
First and foremost, you can enjoy cooking in the spacious shared kitchen. And how about a table d’hote diner with Hans and Jacqueline at the table? We can also organize your breakfast.
We’ve tried out some nearby restaurants for you, and we regularly update our list below:
Grand Pere on the N7, after Lapalisse. A special place in a converted gas station where Maxime and Carmen welcome you warmly. Cozy atmosphere and a delightful menu.
Restaurant l’Instant Pause in the center of Lapalisse, with a spacious lounge terrace and very friendly service. Great for a cup of coffee with treats or a simple lunch.
Restaurant Moulin Marin in Varennes-sur-Teche, offering a cozy atmosphere and a nice daily menu enjoyed alongside hotel guests.
Hotel restaurant Bourbonaisse, offering a solid daily menu.
.
Restaurant Thidier Montaigu le Blin, a slightly higher-end establishment where you can delight in the French cuisine of this chef.
